Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) plays important roles in biological systems. However, the research on H2S has been hindered by the lack of methods for fast, accurate, and real-time detection of H2S. Fluorescence-based assays could be useful in this field because of their high sensitivity and convenience. Recently several reaction-based fluorescent probes for H2S have been reported. The method developed by our group utilized the dual-nucleophilicity of H2S. We have designed, synthesized, and evaluated a series of probes based on this method. Some of the probes showed good sensitivity and selectivity for H2S.  In this presentation, our progress in this project will be discussed.
