The enantioselective synthesis of branched 1,5-dienes via palladium(0) catalyzed allyl-allyl cross-coupling is reported. Product outcomes are consistent with the 3,3' reductive elimination mechanism. Selectivity of up to 99:1 er was achieved. Previous limitations with electron withdrawing substrates have been addressed. The vicinal product olefins are readily differentiated in subsequent transformations. Green aspect of this method was highlighted in two one-pot cascade reactions: oxidation and Suzuki cross-coupling.
