Carbon nanotubes have exquisite optoelectronic properties ideal for numerous applications.  These structures, however, cannot be synthesized in a homogenous fashion by current methods.  My research group's efforts towards the controlled, bottom-up organic synthesis of carbon nanotubes will be described.
