In this presentation, we report that glycolate can be produced with a high selectivity of 85% through electro-oxidation of glycerol on carbon nanotube supported Au nanoparticle catalyst (Au/CNT, 2-5 nm) in alkaline electrolyte at higher potential of 1.6 V (vs. SHE) under mild conditions (room temperature, atmosphere pressure, water as solvent). Detailed mechanisms of electrocatalytic oxidation  of glycerol will be discussed.
