A series of tetradentated platinum complexes were designed for blue OLED luminescent materials. The blue emissive complexes showed excellent radiative features both in solution and thin film: shot decay times, high quantum efficiencies and proper deep blue color. Electrochemical properties, DFT calculation and the emission data manifested band gap energy (?E1/2) as well as the energy deferences between S1 and T1 states (?ES1-T1) were reduced by means of LUMO perturbation with pyridyl moiety. Device was conventionally fabricated with 2% low dispersed concentration, which performed with high electrophosphorescent EQE of 7%, 13% and 16 % with the CIEs of (0.15, 0.18), (0.15, 0.13) and (0.14, 0.19), respectively. A further improved device structure showed the highest EQE can reach 22% at a concentration of 8% dopant.
