Combination therapy of an inhaled corticosteroid and a bronchodilator is a frontline treatment for asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). PDE4 inhibition has been recognized as an approved approach to managing COPD.  We will present the design and synthesis of compounds containing both a quinoline PDE4 inhibitor and �2 adrenergic agonist activity in a single molecule.  The data will illustrate that the activity of each pharmacophore can be attenuated independently via structural changes.
