An efficient method for transition-metal-catalyzed carboxylation of aryl halides with carbon dioxide has been developed. Mild reaction conditions allow the reaction of aryl halides bearing various functional groups with carbon dioxide to form carboxylic acids in good to excellent yields. An atmospheric pressure of CO2 can be employed.
