Over the past few years, significant research has been directed toward the development of new methodologies for synthetic efficiency and atom economy processes. We have been engaged in a project dedicated to the development of catalytic methodologies for the synthesis of biologically relevant targets. More specifically, we have been involved in the hydrogenation reaction using chiral ligands which is an important catalytic method for the manufacture of fine chemicals. Our contribution to this field is the development of atropisomeric diphosphanes named SYNPHOS and DIFLUORPHOS.
