We present the synthesis of a well-defined doubly thermosensitive diblock copolymer with the higher LCST block containing a small amount of carboxylic acid groups and the study of sol-gel-sol-cloudy transitions of its aqueous solution in response to temperature and pH changes. The diblock copolymer was prepared by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. A 20 wt % aqueous solution of this polymer with pH of 3.11 underwent sol-gel-sol-cloudy transitions upon heating. With the increase of pH, the gel-to-sol transition temperature and the clouding temperature of the sample shifted to higher temperatures, while the sol-to-gel transition temperature remained the same.
