We will present a combination of statistical mechanics theory and computer modeling of assembly of viruses, S-layers, and amyloid fibrils. The relative importance between the nucleation-growth mechanism and the spontaneous assembly will be discussed in these assembly processes. Comparisons with experimental data will be presented.
