The ability to analyze complex mixtures without the need to separate components can find wide applications in the neurosciences, the food industry as well as in forensic applications. We have developed the electrochemical method by which two representative species of forensic interest (tryptamine and barbituric acid) can be determined in a single analysis without the pre-separation step. This work describes a miniaturized disposable sensor that utilizes the developed electrochemical sensing strategy.
