Asymmetric olefin metathesis has great synthetic potential because of its versatility in C-C bond forming reactions under neutral and mold conditions. Previous chiral Ru-catalysts are based on 3,4-substituted imidazolidine derivatives.We reported recently on Ru-NHC-complexes monosubstituted in the heterocyclic backbone1,2. this new chiral Ru-catalysts differ in stability, reactivity and selectivity from the backbone-disubstituted complexes. This will be discussed, further developments and applications in synthesis will be presented.
