The Photoluminescence of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) dispersed by Nafion is stable in ethanol and salt solutions.  Based on the alcohol stability of Nafion dispersed SWNTs, a simple one-step sol-gel method for preparation of SWNT/silica composite material is developed. The Nafion-dispersed SWNT/silica composite materials show well resolved SWNT fluorescence spectrum and reversible redox quenching in contact with aqueous solutions containing hydrogen peroxide.  Quenching of SWNT fluorescence in the silica composite by H2O2 and by I2 either in water or in air with respect to their concentration and composite dimension is discussed.
