In concentrated uranium solutions, self-adsorption of gamma emission has a substantial effect on the efficiency calibration. Impurity assay markers were found for 237Np and 231Pa relative to the 235U activity in highly enriched uranium solutions. The gamma analysis performed for this project determined that minor gamma peaks can be used as fingerprint markers for impurities or age dating without the need for determination of sample specific self-adsorption or detector specific efficiency correction. The fingerprint marker results will be compared with analysis utilizing software that performs sample specific self-adsorption correction.
