Boronic acids and esters are important building blocks both in academia and industry. An accurate analysis, and the definition of meaningful target specification for a chosen boronic acid are important issues, especially when used in a pharmaceutial application or cGMP process.  For instance, the stoichiometry of the subsequent Suzuki-Miyaura coupling can be severely impacted by an incorrect analysis of the boronic acid component.  As a leading producer of boronic acids we would like to recommend appropiate methods for the analysis of boronic acids. Standard methods generally used for other organic compounds like the determination of the water content or residue on ignition do not provide meaningful results for boronic acids. Furthermore the assay of boronic acids can vary in a typcial range from 90 � 115 % w/w due to boroxine formation. This poster presents the dos and don'ts for boronic acid analysis and will provide information required for the reliable quality control of such compounds.
