The tail region of reidispongiolide A has significant lower F-actin depolymerization activity and related structures serve as a recognition element for other actin-binding natural products. The highly stereoselective synthesis of the tail fragment will be presented, along with studies on the design and synthesis of reidispongiolide A mimics as actin-binding agents.
