Caylobolide A is an unique 36 member macrolactone containing a contiguous pentad of 1,5-diol derived from the cyanobacteria Lyngbya majuscula . It shows cytotoxicity against the HCT 116 cell line (IC50 = 9.9 �M). Total synthesis of this molecule is particularly challenging due to the the presence of 8 unknown stereocenters. The C25-C40 subunit of this molecule has been successfully synthesized using a chemoselective Ru catalyzed cross coupling reaction. Work is in progress towards the total synthesis of this molecule
