Current-voltage (J-V) analysis of poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT)and phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) organicphotovoltaics (OPV) yield valuable insight into the internal physicsof devices. A simple lumped circuit model, previously used toanalyze conventional thin film photovoltaics and more recentlyapplied to OPV was used. A study of the effect of annealing of P3HT:PCBMblend devices was carried out using the lumped circuit model. Carrierlifetime-mobility product information and barrier data wereextracted from the J-V analysis of these devices. Collection losscharacteristics were also obtained. The OPV community will benefitfrom applying this simple model as a method of standardizingmeasurements from J-V curves, as was done routinely withinorganic PVs.
