This presentation will focus on innovations in FAIMS (field-asymmetic ion mobility spectrometry), also termed DMS (differential mobility spectrometry).  These innovations will include unique geometries (planar, spherical, and micro-scale) and novel gas-phase chemistry (including solvent effects).  These innovations will enable breakthrough applications in such areas as homeland security, breath analysis, and elemetal analysis.  The talk will describe instrumentation, fundamentals, and applications.
