We have previously shown that the 6-R-5,6,9-nido-C3B7H9� tricarbadecaboranide anions have transition metal coordination properties that are similar to those of the cyclopentadienide anion with the ability to form a wide range of metallocene-like sandwich complexes.  As illustrated by the cobaltatricarbadecaboranyl dppe complex shown below, we will now present synthetic, structural, and reactivity studies of the first series of half-sandwich, 1,1-L2-2-R-closo-1,2,3,4-MC3B7H9, M = Co, Rh and Ir, tricarbadecaboranyl complexes.
