Dinuclear transition metal complexes are important in a variety of transformations in which they undergo two electron redox processes. In our group's continuing pursuit of novel main group-transition metal redox platforms, zero valent complexes of group 10 metals with the triphosphanylstibine ligand, [(o-(Ph2P)C6H4)3Sb], have been synthesized and characterized. These complexes sustain two electron chemical oxidation across the heterobimetallic core to yield the corresponding trigonal bipyramidal divalent metal complexes as shown in the scheme  below. This formal addition of X2 across a stibine-transition metal complex is to our knowledge hitherto unknown in the literature. The reactivity of these novel zero-valent complexes, as well as that of the resultant divalent metal complexes will be discussed.
