For more than 40 years, the DNCT Award named in honor of Charles D. Coryell has been given to undergraduate students who have completed research projects in nuclear or radiochemistry.  These projects are judged on their ingenuity and potential utility, in addition to the student's ownership of the research project overall.   Upon reflection on the list of awardees, it is apparent that this award has helped to encourage many bright young students to pursue a research career in nuclear and radiochemistry.  A summary of some of these achievements as well as an overview of the role of undergraduate research in attracting young students into the field will be presented.
