Development of selective resins for the separation and recovery of specific metals has been an area of interest in radiochemistry. If a radionuclide is to become widely used for radiopharmaceutical applications an efficient route to produce and selectively separate it is necessary. With a half-life of 61.83 h and soft gamma emission (184.6 keV; 48.7 %) 67Cu (E�-=141 keV) is a suitable candidate to be radiolabeled for use as a theranostic agent to image and treat cancer. Typically produced from Zn targets, 67Cu must be separated from large quantities of stable Zn as well as co-produced nuclides such as 67Ga, 58Co, and others.The aim of this work is to characterize a novel Cu selective resin's capability to separate 67Cu from irradiated Zn targets in the presence of Co and Ga at various pH values. The obtained data suggest that >90 % Cu can be recovered with complete separation from Zn. However the presence of Co and Ga radionuclides in the Cu eluent may require additional column. This fact coupled with relatively slow flow rate make the benefits of superior resin selectivity for Cu seem less attractive.
