In our previous study of the reactivity of the �(MePNP)Ir� fragment with a series of ethers, a,a-dehydrogenation and a,�-dehydrogenation was observed. In the following study, the reactivity of the amido/bis(phosphine)-supported (FPNP)Rh (1)   fragment with various linear and cyclic ethers has been explored. (FPNP)Rh(Ph)(Bn) (2)   was selected as a precursor to �(FPNP)Rh� because it is kinetically stable at room temperature and is thermodynamically favored to reductively eliminate to diphenylmethane. On its own compound (2)     did not react with diethyl ether, but in the presence of a Lewis acid such as magnesium dibromide, it produced (FPNP)Rh(CH2CH2). The reactivity of (2)  with various ethers and the role of MgBr2 in the reaction will be described.
