A dynamic kinetic model is being developed, using the proposed reaction networks shown above, to understand and simulate the catalytic stages observed during methane aromatization over Mo/HMCM-22. The change in activity during the first 4000 s on stream is connected to the extrinsic relaxation phenomena, in which the hexavalent molybdenum is converted into active Mo2C carbide species. During the stage of optimum catalyst performance (4000 � 9000 s on stream), maximum Mo2C concentration is obtained, enhancing the carbide catalyzed step, i.e., methane dimerization into ethene. The slow rates of coke formation on metal and acid sites cause catalyst deactivation at time longer than 9000 s on stream.
