The lanthanide(III) complexes have been widely studied in optoelectronics due to their narrow and characteristic luminescence. Since an inter- and/or intramolecular energy transfer occur from the ligands to the metal ions, the structure of the ligands strongly influence the luminescent properties. In this research, we synthesized a disc-like europium(III) complex with 1,3,5-tris(acetoacetamido)benzene as a core ligand and a phenanthroline derivative as a peripheral ligand. The complex showed an organogelation and PL intensity of the 5D0?7F2 transition in gel state was much higher than the solution state. Also, it formed a freestanding film without losing own luminescence (Figure 1).Figure 1.
