This presentation will describe the synthesis of functional polymers tailored for coordination to nanoparticles and nanorods in controlled assemblies.  Particular emphasis will be placed on the following topics:  1) preparing conjugated polymers with chain-end functionality for coordination to nanoparticles and nanorods; 2) solution assembly of hybrid materials to give structures with multiple parallel lines of alternating n-type and p-type materials; and 3) evaporative techniques that give well-organized nanoparticle and nanorod-based ribbons over very long lengths (centimeters and longer), modest, sub-micron widths, and very short heights (1-2 nanoparticle monolayers).
