The latest development in visible light-active all-oxide heteronanostructures for solar hydrogen generation by (sea)water splitting along with the in-depth electronic structure investigation at synchrotron radiation facilities of size effect on orbital character, spontaneous electron enrichment and interfacial properties of relevant photoanodes will be demonstrated.
