Several thermal cracking processes, which are Visbreaking, Delayed coking, Fluid coking, HSC, HTL, IyQ, Eureka, and SCW upgrading, were compared using the relationship between conversion and yields to examine the thermal upgrading behavior of Athabasca bitumen based on reported information. The relationship clarified the standpoints of each process and the thermal cracking behaviors of bitumen in the condensed and dispersed states.
