Thermoelectric materials have been attracted a great attention for applications in cooling and power generation, because their direct conversion system between heat and electricity enable the devices reliable, economical and environment-friendly. In spite of attractive features, thermoelectric materials have limited applications, mostly due to their low efficiency. Recently, the introduction of nanostructures to thermoelectric materials has successfully improved ZT over 1 by the reduction of their thermal conductivity while preserving their electrical conductivity. Among the various thermoelectric materials, oxides have potential for application to high temperature devices because they are non-toxic and thermally stable. Herein, we successfully synthesized La-doped SrTiO3 nanoparticles with various doping level and their thermoelectric properties were measured by preparing a pellet using SPS. The maximum thermoelectric figure-of-merit, ZT was 0.34, which is 20% higher than conventional bulk La-doped SrTiO3.
