In this work, a novel air-promoted adsorptive desulfurization (ADS) approach over TiO2-CeO2 mixed oxides from ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) at ambient conditions has been developed. The ADS capacity of sorbents was evaluated in a flow adsorption system from a commercial ULSD. Results showed that air can significantly promote ADS over TiO2-CeO2 mixed oxides from ULSD at room temperature under atmospheric pressure, with 9 fold increase in ADS breakthrough capacity at 1ppmw-S. The present study may open a new window for developing energy-efficient, selective and regenerable sorbents for ultra-deep desulfurization from transportation fuels.
