The lipase-catalyzed kinetic resolution through enantioselective transesterification of chiral alcohols is still a transformation open for further applications. When it comes to heteroatom-containing chiral alcohols � compounds, which in general are involved in some interesting metal-catalyzed couplings � the need for biocatalyzed transformations becomes more evident. Herein a screening of lipase sources for the enantioselective transesterification reactions of silicon-, tin- and phosphorus-containing chiral alcohols showed that the bests results (31-46 % isolated yields and >99% enantiomeric excesses) were achieved when the lipase PS C-II (for silicon compound) and CAL-B (for tin and phosphorus compounds) were used. Moreover, in all cases perfect enzymatic kinetic resolutions were performed in mild conditions and with only 6 hours of reaction.
