Anion Relay Chemistry (ARC) comprises an efficient protocol to assemble elaborate fragments in natural product total synthesis. In this report, we will demonstrate the use of ARC for the rapid construction of a family of naturally occurring, analgesic and tumor-suppressing, polyol-containing, dihydro- and tetrahydro-pyrones exploiting a global �Iterative-ARC� (I-ARC) tactic to build complete carbon frameworks in a single operation via the union of readily available fragments.
