Proper institutional support is a key ingredient in developing a sustainable safety culture. There should be key management involvement, financial backing, interactive safety management tools enbedded in EH&S information systems, engaging educational or training resources, and, of course, excellent interactions and communications between EH&S staff and their various academic customers. The genesis of some important web-based tools and how the involvement of campus safety committees can be a critical factor is described.
