Drawing on practical experience as a private company investor, entrepreneur, and CEO, Dr. Rossi will discuss the importance of intellectual property in the early life cycle of biotech companies.  Three stages of company life cycle will be explored: start up; follow on financing; and exit/monetization.  The expectations for the degree of development of IP at these stages become progressively heightened.  The ability of start up management teams, shareholders, and strategic partners to capture value from IP will also vary at these stages.  Unexpected hurdles posed by competing technologies and emerging IP will also be addressed.
