The X-phos gold complexs were revealed as the effective catalysts in promoting propargylic ester rearrangement, undergoes a intramolecular [2+2] cyclization, giving funtionalized cyclobutane compounds with excellent yields (up to 93% yields, 1% loading). More interestingly, this reaction can be quenched by adding Ag as a co-catalyst, which showed the reported reaction was the genuine Au-catalyzed reaction and also confirmed 'Silver-Effect' phenomenon in gold chemistry.
