Divergolides A-D, novel ansa macrolides, have been isolated from Streptomyces sp. HKI0576 closely resembling to hygrocins A-B. The intriguing feature of all these compounds is their similarity in the aromatic core structure being in the class of ansamycins. Ansamycins were proved to be very potent molecules for anticancer, antibacterial and antiviral activities (hygrocin, geldanamycin and rifamycin). Promising biological profiles of these compounds coupled with their intriguing structural features inspired us to undertake the synthesis of the same. We will present the synthesis details of the aromatic core (highlighted in red)  structures of these Ansamycins from readily available starting materials.
