This talk will explore some recently developed methods for measuring the rate of charge transfer between colloidal quantum dots (QDs) and organic redox centers. It focuses particularly on quantifying the contribution of the QD-ligand binding equilibrium and the intermolecular structure of the QD's native ligand shell in determining the observed interfacial charge transfer rate. It also describes how QDs and molecules can participate in charge transfer both when the ligand is bound to the surface of the QD, and when the reaction is diffusion-controlled.
