In this contribution, isotactic polypropylene/Maghnite hybrids were prepared via melt blending using Maghnite clay, originated from Algeria. This clay was, in a first step, used in its pure form (PBT) and then organically modified by Hexadecylammonium chloride (OBT). Thermal and mechanical properties of the elaborated hybrids were then evaluated and compared with virgin PP.The thermal stability of iPP/clay composites was examined using a kinetic analysis. The kinetic parameters of the degradation process were determined applying Flynn-Wall-Ozawa and kissinger methods.  The results showed that iPP/OBT materials exhibited slightly higher degradation temperature than that of pure iPP. The addition of PBT or OBT clay reduced the reaction order in the nonisothermal degradation process. The activation energies of iPP/OBT composites also increased compared to the pure iPP, suggesting an important effect  of organo-maghnite on the thermal stability of the pure iPP
