Regio-regular linear polymer analogous to vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer (VAE, > 50 wt% vinyl acetate) was synthesized by ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of 3-acetoxy cyclooctene and subsequent hydrogenation. This polymer exhibits different thermal behaviors than regio-irregular ROMP-derived VAE and commercial VAE having the similar chemical composition.
