Regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) has excellent properties for plastic electronic applications including good thermal stability, high charge mobility, low bandgap, and high solubility. These properties have led P3HT to various applications in organic field-effect transistors, solar cells, chemical electronic sensors, and light-emitting devices. Several different types of block copolymers and organic-inorganic hybrid materials based on P3HT have been developed and optimized for electronic devices over the past two decades.In this study, we demonstrate a simple strategy for the synthesis of end-functionalized P3HTs via thiol-ene click reaction which showed quantitative reaction conversion. Thiol, hydroxyl, carboxylic acid, and methyl ester groups were successfully introduced at the end of P3HT.
