Degradable materials find many uses in the biomedical arena such as in therapeutic devices, drug delivery and gene/tissue engineering.  One area that is underdeveloped in terms of degradable polymeric materials is that of patternable micron-sized devices.  In this paper, we report a direct polymerization of polyanhydrides into micron-sized particles using thiol-ene chemistry.  We show that thiol-ene polymerized polyanhydrides can be made using photolithography, allowing the production of micron-sized polyanhydride structures.  In this simple demonstration we use 365 nm UV photolithography along with a TEM grid as a photomask.  Moreover, the hydrophobic polyanhydride squares can undergo degradation process when placed into an aqueous solution.
