The experiments were conducted on separation and characterization of porphyrins. The exciting things were that four new series of vanadium compounds detected by positive-ion electrospray (ESI) Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) in Venezuela crude oil and Tahe vacuum residue, respectively CnHmN4V1O2, CnHmN4V1O3, CnHmN4V1O4 and CnHmN5V1O2 class species. CnHmN4V1O2 and CnHmN4V1O3 class species had respectively five kinds of compounds with different DBE (Double Bond Equivalents), including DBE=18, 19, 20, 21, 22. In addition, CnHmN4V1O4 class species had three kinds of compounds with DBE=19, 20, 21. Herein, the reasonable structures of these new series vanadium compounds were proposed based on the Treibs theoretical model on the formation of porphyrin. The experiments of isolate model were conducted at different collision voltages followed by single point mass calibration of V=O (II) OEP to identify the structure of CnHmN5V1O2.
