The interest in metal-organic materials (MOMs) has risen dramatically over the past few years. Their crystalline structures are made up of metal cations or clusters linked together by organic ligands. The majority of these materials reported have been generated from transition metal cations. Comparably, there has been much less research devoted to using alkaline earth metals, such as Mg(II). Presented herein are three Mg(II)-based MOMs which have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction.
