The interpenetrated polymorph of an SiF6-pillared metal-organic material (MOM), SIFSIX-2-Cu-i , exhibits much narrower pore size and enhanced heat of adsorption (Qst) towards CO2 and H2 in comparison to its non-interpenetrated polymorph, SIFSIX-2-Cu . The Qst enhancement is accompanied by remarkably greater CO2 uptake and higher CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4 selectivity at 298 K and 1 atm, making SIFSIX-2-Cu-i  a promising candidate for carbon capture. SIFSIX-2-Cu-i  also exhibits high selectivity for CO2 over CH4, N2, and C2-C4 hydrocarbons at elevated pressures, which places it among the highest-performing MOMs in the context of natural gas upgrading. This study indicates that pore size plays a vital role in CO2 uptake, Qst, and selectivity.
