Recent work from our laboratory pertaining to the synthesis of oligosaccharides and their mimetics will be presented.  This will include a discussion of current problems as perceived by the presenter, studies on the mechanisms of glycosidic bond formation, and studies on the design and synthesis of oligosaccharide minetics
