The series of four-center unsaturated chelate ligands A=B-C=D with redox activity to yield -A-B=C-D- in two single-electron steps has been complemented by a new combination R-N=N-C(=S)-R1. The ligands which are unstable in free form could be generated in situ via ruthenium(II) induced organic transformation reactions. Synthesis, structural characterization of the isolated complexes, electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemical characterization (UV-VIS-NIR, EPR) will be described.[1] Fabian Ehret et. al., Inorg.
