There has been significantly growing interest in studying porous polymers due to their great potential in achieving efficient gas separation/storage. This presentation will describe the successful synthesis of a series of structure-tunable, organic porous polymers through dynamic covalent chemistry (DCC). Some of the polymers are constructed from 1-D, 2-D small molecule precursors, while others consist of 2-D, 3-D large molecular building blocks. The organic cage framework OCF-3 showed a very high ideal selectivity in adsorption of CO2 over N2 (up to 213/1, STP), while the porous polymer PPF-1 exhibits an exceptionally high gas adsorption capacity (CO2, 26.7wt%, 273K, 1bar; H2, 2.75wt%, 77K, 1bar), thus showing great promise of these porous polymers in carbon capture and gas storage applications. The high chemical and thermal stability of these porous polymers and their great tunability in both pore volume and surface functionality represent great advantages. The structure-property relationship of these porous materials will also be discussed.
