Biological deterioration suffered by stone material of cultural heritage, in Latin America, is largely due to the salts and microbial action. This work presents a new material based stone coral reef with TiO2 (PCN-TiO2), to be applied on the strengthener blocks used in restoration (PCN). Physicochemical characterization studies using FT-IR, XRD, SEM, EDX, concerning both ancient samples PMA as PCN, showed iron traces, organic acids, algae green (Chlorophyta), cyanobacteria and fungi on ancient samples, symptoms of moderate weathering; whereas PCN showed high calcium percentage and low cyanobacteria presence. The chloride concentration reported 779 mg / L for the weathered PMA stone and 339 mg / L in the stone PCN. Samples of 1 sq. in. PCN-TiO2 showed high microporosity, very low water absorption percentage and a break load of 5.3KN. Stereoscopic microscopy analysis of PCN with PCN-TiO2 coatings showed no microbial growth for three months exposed to saline marine environment.
