Topochemical manipulation plays an important role in the synthesis of new layered compounds whether it is for fundamental studies or to target certain materials with specific properties. The techniques are low in temperature (< 500 oC) which allows for better control over the host structures due to the minimization of significant bond breaking and making which can also aid in targeting metastable compounds. By using synthetic methods like ion-exchange, intercalation, grafting, exfoliation, and substitution the library of solid state materials can be expanded to more perovskite-oxides with many structural variations. The oral presentation presented will focus on different new layered perovskites synthesized using topotactic techniques. All the studies were carried out for fundamental studies and will be discussed in detail.
